I've been meaning to read "Black Like Me" for years now...I'll have to look for that one. No, you didn't lend me your copy. And that book is titled "Humility" by C.J. Mahaney; good luck finding it. If you can't, I'll bring my copy back in the fall (or come visit!) .
I have a copy of Black Like Me sitting on my desk right now. I should be able to get you Les Mis as well, but I won't be able to make it to Seattle for at least a month.
Good heavens no. I'm used to reading so much during the school year, that I'm going through a sort of reading withdrawal, if you will. Besides, this will keep my mind sharper over the summer. ;)
I don't know what you'll think of it due to the general Christian uprising when the movie came out, but give The Golden Compass a try -- the book, that is. I loved it back when it first came out when I was in grade four, and I feel grossly insulted by the movie, which doesn't do the book justice at all. And don't overlook the rest of the series, either: The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass. I liked the third book the best. :)

I'll see if I can find it...surely the library will have a copy. I have heard good things about "The Golden Compass".
